Got an idea for you. Since I can not figure out how to create a plug-in... maybe you can.

On my homepage and blog, there are several different styles of Progress meters/Percent markers designed in CSS. I come up with so many fun designs. But ...

I wish there was a way for it to be a plugin, so when you need to update your progress. It&#039;s two clicks in the admin panel and not in the master php file.

It would help the less techy alot.

Thanks</description>

<description>as i&#039;m new to blogtools but have to setup a new site for www.forecast.ch i was looking for some plugins that would help me with little things.

random header image
a plugin where you set a folder as headerimages folder and the plugin then shows a randomly selected images from that folder in the header of the blog. i know there are some themes that do this but to have it as a plugin would be nice.

show category icon
it would be very nice if you could link each category to a little icon and show these categoryicons for each post.

custom pseudo-template
as i&#039;ll use wordpress&#039; new page function to administer an internal part of the site where only static pages are requiered, it would be nice to have a quicklink button for new posts that inserts a predefined structure into the textarea. (eg. i defined a table structure once and can insert the empty table with the click of a button)

reverse engineered xml data for blog
let&#039;s say i have an application to administer dates for events and bookings for dj&#039;s playing on these events and i now want to publish that info on my blog. instead of reading the info out of the db and displaying it with a custom sql query and custom html wouldn&#039;t it be nicer to have a plugin that reads out whatever table or query i give it, shows me the result and let&#039;s me define what is the title of the article and so on. that way the plugin would then generate a static xml file from my data and my blog would then use this xml file to show the data. that way i wouldn&#039;t have to do a dynamic db driven page. (hope i&#039;m not to confusing here....) and as a sideeffect i could publish the generated xml file as a feed as well.

hope this gives you some first ideas about writing new plugins. if only they don&#039;t exist yet and i simply haven&#039;t found them. ;)

cheers marc
